Corktown takes its name from the families who came here from Cork, Ireland, and this private walk of about two and a half hours follows their story. We pass St. Paul's Basilica, the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, which opened in 1849 as Toronto's first free school, and Little Trinity Church, founded in 1842.
We also cross Corktown Common, a park that opened in 2014, and finish in the Distillery Historic District. It is a national historic site with 30 brick and stone industrial buildings from 1859 to 1927, and the cobblestones are part of the charm.
Times and order are approximate and depend on traffic, weather and your group.
We meet in Corktown at a spot we confirm by email, and finish in the Distillery Historic District at 55 Mill Street. To get there, take TTC Line 1 to King Station and the 504 King streetcar east to Parliament Street.
